Twitter and the PLN World Tech and Ed  Bailey Sheridan 4/30/2021   Continued Journey Hello, If you have been keeping up with my blog you may remember that for my Technology in Education class I had to get Twitter .  At first I was very skeptical of the idea of having Twitter--for school? However after using in for a few days I grew to really enjoy it and love it. I engaged in chats and conversions with my peers and other educators on important topics and ideas. I participated in chats and polls. And most of all I learned a lot along the way. Now I am not following 464 people and have 144 followers. I have many teacher friends online that engage in my posts and questions and that I engage with back. I also have been a big part of the #Whatisschool twitter chat the last few weeks in March and a little in April. I love being on these chats because I have learned so much about what a good teacher does, but also get to way in on talking about important issues.  PL...

I TIED 3 STUDENT RESPONSE SYSTEMS AND RATED THEM Tech and Education  Bailey Sheridan 4/5/2021 First off: What are Student Response Systems?  Student response systems are tools teachers can use to check the student’s understanding of a given topic. They help the teachers see if the class or certain students need to review or relearn something.  Tools like Kahoot games and google classroom questions, are examples of SRS’s. They are a great way to give quick formative assessments of the students' knowledge. This helps teachers to know what the student needs to work on or not. These SRS tools can be on and off line. Exit tickets are usually done offline to summarize a lesson. Why not do them online with a SRS tool too? Why Use SRS?  From Exit Tickets, formative assessment and just reviewing SRS tools are really helpful and fun for both students and teachers. Not to mention they are easy to make and do. No more over complicated slides and games, just fill in gam...

My Journey with Twitter Tech and Ed  Bailey Sheridan 3/1/2021   New Beginnings I first got Twitter on January 18th to prepare for school to start. Having a Twitter account was a requirement for my Tech and Ed course (Edu209) at Trinity. I wasn’t honestly not excited about getting a Twitter, I had my skeptical views. Before actually getting Twitter and Learning how amazing PLN is. I thought it was just politics and memes and a waste of time. I was VERY wrong.  Currently I am following 317 people and organizations about tech in education or educators (current and future)  in general offering advice. And I have a Whooping 90 followers which I still can’t believe. So far I have learned so much from having twitter, about education, teachers, resources, the world and myself.  Community A big take away from twitter so far has been about community. I was really nervous to start using it and had no Idea what I would actually say on there. However My wonderful classmates ...
